Wot tha ffffuck are yeu doin here?!” "What tha FUUCK are yeww doin here????"

This quote basically summarises the entire movie's plot, and I love that.

IMAGINE IF GUY RITCHIE STILL MADE MOVIES LIKE THIS. An absolute joyride from start to finish, complete with all the gags, story layering, and subversive editing and transitions, just as you would expect from a Guy Ritchie classic. This film is nothing short of exhilarating buffoonery and anxious anticipation. For a film debut, this is almost as good as it gets. Unfortunately, Guy Ritchie set a high bar for himself with this debut, so it's not surprising that many of his later movies aren't more than mediocre.

I haven't had this much fun this much while watching a movie in a long time. I was laughing so hard at one point that I had to pause and take a few minutes to catch my breath. The comedy is absolutely brilliant, and the writing is even better. The narrative is like a rollercoaster, and your arms and legs are definitely not inside the vehicle for the ride. The predictable unpredictability (yes, I know that sounds wrong, but if you've seen the movie, you know exactly what I mean) keeps you hanging on the edge of your seat, wanting to know what happens next, all the while being entertained the whole nine yards. The performances? Excellent. The camera work? Incredible. The editing? Groundbreaking (for the time and genre).

The only reason I didn't give this a ★★★★★ is because of the occasional clumsy background music, which is understandable for a debut, especially in the late 90s. There are exceptions, though. For example, the music at the end is absolutely perfect, and I also love the song that plays when Eddie gets out of **** (Spoilers), amongst a few other moments sprinkled throughout the film.

A brilliant, genre-defining film that is a must-watch. This is how you do a Crime-Action-Comedy movie right. Watch. This.

Side note: Big Chris and Little Chris are the best father-son duo ever. They're a total vibe.
